Life-Saving Inventor's Network (LSIN)

LSIN means "Listen!" and FireDrake is LSIN-ING
fire Fighters Our LSIN program is designed to assist firefighters and other public safety personnel in developing advanced technology within their own industry.

Firefighters are brave, intelligent and resourceful people. If their job can be made safer they usually know what needs to be done. FireDrake brings the knowledge of new and advanced materials, technology, and our experience in developing new equipment to the table and the Inventor brings the idea. As a team FireDrake, our investors and the Inventor bring the product to life.

Not every idea or design can be chosen. The criteria for development of a new product is tough. Any product introduced has to ultimately save lives by cutting time, saving money, stretching resources or going where no firefighter should go in the first place. The more advancements in technology we can make in life-saving products, the better the chance a firefighter will not be sent into situations that could result in a tragedy.

Our development projects costs are typically 50% below what other companies will charge to develop the same product. Due to our level of experience we know how to use a combination of new and old, applied and unapplied technologies together to create new and patented life-saving devices and products. The FireDrake team also has extensive experience in Research, Development, Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Manufacturing to ensure a safer and quick ROI for investors.

The LSIN program works like this:
  • The Inventor is invited to FireDrake to present their idea.
  • Someone from our Product development team and also our engineering department will be present.
  • The Inventor and FireDrake sign a mutually protective Non-Disclosure Agreement before proceeding.
  • Information is collected and the FireDrake team goes to work researching current market practices and products, then ultimately decides if that product is something that is needed and can be marketed.
  • If the product is chosen for development the Inventor will be asked to be available for consultation and input during various stages of the project and will be updated on progress.
  • Depending upon the scope of the development, the product can come to life within a few months or may take several years.
Because of how FireDrake tracks development projects each product is not only individually evaluated, it is also individually accounted for in terms of project costs and profits in our manufacturing accounting software. This allows each Inventor to collect monies based on the ACTUAL COST of his or her own invention. Many times, development companies cannot separate these costs out and every Inventor pays for whatever the "pool" is in terms of overhead costs. If your project takes two people, you are NOT charged for a pool of eight, which may be appropriate for some other Inventor's project. All of FireDrake's accounting practices are GAAP but the company is managed using TCM (Total Cost Management) and ABC (Activity Based Costing) principals . Accurate information for all involved in new product development is the key to success and the accounting practices allow real-time reports to be generated that give up the minute information regarding the costs and profits of any project.

LSIN pays back to both the Inventor and also to the charity or firehouse of the Inventor's choice. After development fees are recovered FireDrake will begin cutting quarterly checks to the Inventor and to the charity or the firehouse of the Inventor's choice.

Each program is independently evaluated and the structure of it will depend upon the type of invention and what the expected risk and development effort might be.
